Unsafe streets
The slip lane needs to be removed so students aren’t surrounded by high speed cars on all sides as they wait for a green light. Avoca St and Cowper St.
This crossing distance is too long. The large sweeping intersection encourages drivers to go fast just where people want to cross. Oberon St and Perouse Rd.
This wide crossing is metres from Randwick Public School. Blisters and a refuge island would be great. Cowper St and The Avenue.
Near Coogee Public School, this is a large crossing distance. Drivers can easily turn at high speed, meaning they don’t see people crossing. Havelock Ave and Carr St.
The pedestrian with a pram cannot easily mount the refuge island. The island needs to be larger with a cut through. Arden St and Clovelly Rd.
50km/h speed limit and no crossing is hard to cross. The painted blisters are ignored by drivers, and need to be replaced by concrete blisters. Botany St and Blenheim St.
Many students walk up the hill to Clovelly Public School daily, but struggle to safely cross Boundary Rd where drivers travel at 50 km/h or more. Boundary Rd and Winchester Rd.
Drivers enter Boomerang St from Malabar Rd as a rat run to The Causeway. A modal filter here would prevent through traffic in cars, but allow cyclists. Also, note the lack of footpath on the north side.
